dig og mig, pronounced dye o my, is a fresh take on stylish yet functional children's fashion by way of copenhagen, denmark. nestled in the heart of the west village, it is owned and operated by iben and daryl, who were inspired to begin this enterprise by the birth of their now four year old son, silas.
iben was born and raised in copenhagen. at 23, she moved to new york city to attend parson's school of design. after giving birth to silas, iben noticed a void in the american market for the kind of stylish yet fully-functional children's clothing that abounds in denmark.
dig og mig, meaning "you and me", was taken from a nursery rhyme that iben's mother would recite to her when she was a child. the boutique's logo is representative of the ever-present swans at the waterfront in denmark where families venture to feed them bread. it was a ritual for iben's family to feed the swans after dinner.
drawing on their collective experience in the fashion business, iben and daryl opened dig og mig in the summer of 2007. this upscale children's boutique offers fresh and innovative clothing, shoes, toys and accessories for boys and girls from three months to eight years old. dig og mig featured its first private collection in the summer of 2009.
